luxury LODGING

sandpoint, idaho

Escape to Talus Rock Retreat for your special getaway. Rented by the room or in its entirety, this peaceful villa is perfectly situated on an 18-acre wilderness playground and only 1 mile from downtown Sandpoint, Idaho!

Escape for the weekend in our Nooma Bedroom! Located on the lower level; the Nooma Bedroom is located in one of our more secluded areas. It has a king bed, a beautiful custom concrete shower, and a kitchenette in the room. It is the only bedroom located on the ground floor, and has direct access to the Lower Great Room; a luxury space that includes a full kitchen, spacious family room, movie theater, pool table, and slate fireplace open for guests to use. The lower level has a separate entrance that exits directly to the gardens, pool, fire pits, and the rolling Talus Rock acreage.

Perfect for a couple or small family, this lovely room is cozy and luxurious. It’s a plush mini-apartment with a separate ramped entrance, wraparound private deck, full kitchen, relaxing living room (with a queen futon) and an adjoining queen bedroom. Enjoy the intricate details such as the inlaid colorful sunflower mosaic-tiled shower and matching sink, striking copper ceilings, and eclectic artwork! Private and separate but attached, have your cake and eat it too!

The Grand Arbor! Often chosen as the honeymoon or anniversary suite, this heavenly, romantic, open-air style space features a jetted tub for two, king bed, an octagonal 30-foot copper ceiling, and a one-of-a-kind double-headed tree shower. Open the French doors to a private deck, step outside and be surrounded by the gorgeous backdrop of the majestic Cabinet Mountains. (Note: A comfortable pull out sofa bed in a separate cubby is available for 2 children or 1 adult for an additional $50/adult or $25/child 12 and under. Be reminded of the open bed/shower floor plan.)

Enjoy our east-facing Kipling Room featuring a king bed, wildly colorful bathroom inlaid with over 200 Talavera Mexican tiles and deep jetted tub! Open the sliding glass doors to a Parisian balcony and take in the awe-inspiring views of the waterfall, pond and Cabinet Mountains.

Our pretty pastel-colored, north facing bedroom has a king bed and a view of the horse arena and lush forest that borders the wilderness area. The copper dragonfly sink in the slate and glass tiled bathroom and deep tub for bubble baths adds a calming touch. The pop-out loft is a fun little cubby incorporating the high ceilings of this cozy room.

Decor hints of the open ranges of the Serengeti, splashed with warm earthy tones and afternoon sunlight make this room a favorite. This room features a slate and glass tiled tub/shower, a custom hand-hammered copper sink, and a king bed.  Sneak up to the cubby for a windowed peak at the forest – you just might see a bear!

Magical peaceful B&B We spent 3 nights in the Kipling room and my parents spent 1 night in the Arbor room. The beds were incredibly comfortable and each had it's own little efficiency kitchen, which was really helpful since we are on a 25 day roadtrip traveling with our dog. The best part, though, is the kindness of the owners and team that welcomes you and ensures you have a wonderful, peaceful stay. We also enjoyed the other guests who we got to know a bit on our last morning. Typically we stay in boutique hotels or vacation rentals and this was our 2nd experience at a B&B. It was a lovely change! Breakfast was delicious each morning and we felt so welcome and cared for. The house was gorgeous and very unique. So much love and thought has gone into every detail. We will 100% be back! Sandpoint itself if super charming and Schweitzer mountain really fun with great tree runs! I'd leave 6 stars if I could!

Awesome! My wife and I recently celebrated our 20th anniversary and wanted to spend it somewhere special- Talus Rock Retreat is by far the nicest place we have ever stayed. The owner and staff made sure that we had an amazing experience the entire stay. The pictures on the web are great, but its even more beautiful in person. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks to the owners and staff for an awesome experience!

Absolutely stellar! Couldn’t ask for more! Arrived in the afternoon. Was greeted by a lovely bunch of people and showed around the beautiful property! Booked the “Nooma” aka the whole downstairs level. Had a wonderful night with friends and family. And was helped with all questions and concerns very promptly! Couldn’t ask for more. It’s a must stay If you are coming through the small town Sandpoint Idaho!

This place was amazing! Coming to the retreat, one of the things I immediately liked was that it was tucked away within the trees, making it private and peaceful. The place was huge and beautifully built giving it a unique feel. I stayed in the Selkirk room, which was incredibly nice! I liked that the room felt spacious and there was even a cute loft to hang out in! The staff was so nice, thoughtful, and helpful with whatever I needed! I will definitely be coming back!! Highly recommend to anyone!

A lovely retreat My wife and I came to Sandpoint for a brief getaway. A chance to unwind and connect again. Talus Rock fit the bill! A quiet place, where you can lounge inside in a nook by the fire or outside in their lovely grounds.... for a few days, it was absolute heaven. The inside with its soaring framing and windows provided a nice place to sip coffee and enjoy a breakfast while planning for the days activities. Lovely hosts. We intend to return!

You won't be sorry Where else can you stay in a gorgeous mansion--surrounded by beautiful vegetation and a to-die-for view out its back windows--as an Airbnb that's so reasonably priced? We only wish could have stayed several more nights. The staff were so warm and caring, the accommodations spotless, and appreciated the little house dogs. We felt right at home immediately. Love what the family's vision is for this place and only too happy to be able to support it through lodging there.

Hidden 💎 Talus Rock Retreat center Had a lovely stay at this Sandpoint secret spot just minutes from downtown. Beautiful home with history in each and every room. Friendliest staff and owner greet you at the unforgettable entry door. Gorgeous handmade items catch your eye as you enter all yours to pick from for a small donation if you choose for a wonderful cause. Quite beautiful setting is yours to enjoy. Clean and comfortable unique rooms! Next time I will upgrade to one of the larger rooms with a jetted tub for sure! Will be back again soon!

Oasis in the Mountains Talus Rock Retreat is a charming lodge in a beautiful setting run by lovely people. The building itself has wonderful atmosphere, and the rooms are comfortable and very nicely appointed. It sits on grounds with trails for long walks where it’s not unusual to see deer and other wildlife. At the same time, Talus Rock Retreat is a short drive to the town of Sandpoint and Lake Pend Orreille. So the location is good in that regard as well. The owners and staff are so friendly and helpful - the icing on the cake of having a great place to stay. And the home-cooked breakfast is terrific. If you’re in the neighborhood, by all means stay at Talus Rock Retreat!
